About Yangshuo

Yangshuo is probably one of the most beautiful places in China and, if you have the time, a necessary spot to visit on any China holiday. It's surrounded by karst peaks and on one side it is being bordered by the li river (li jiang). It is located in the north-eastern part of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and it is about 70 km (40 miles) south of Guilin. It has a population of about 300.000 people spread out over the Yangshuo region.The people that live here are the Han chinese but also different ethnic groups such as Zhuang, Yao and the Hui.

The weather in Yangshuo is subtropical, with an annual average of about 19 C (66 F). So on overall Yangshuo is a perfect place to visit all year round. However the best times are Spring and Autumn, Summer being very hot and the Winter just a little cool.

Yangshuo China has a history going back 1400 years in which the people here have created their own distinct culture, such as the long drum dance, the Cai Diao opera, and dragon and lion dances. In addition to the fabulous natural scenery, garden relics, historical architecture, ancient bridges, stone carvings, this place has it all.

It is easy to access Yangshuo from Guilin by bus or boat from nearby Guilin. Yangshuo is nowadays a popular place for backpackers.
